ImNoDrPhil is right.
        I posted just a little too quickly. (I should have opened
        CPU-Z and double checked. For some reason I was thinking it
        factored in the multiplier, but that's not the case).

      As an aside, while I like

        Memtest86
      in general, for some reason it
        will not show certain "funny" memory modules as
        defective, where MS's WinDiag memory test will. So when
        testing memory, it's always good to get a second opinion.

      And by "funny"
        I mean modules that use the FPGA mapping trick I explain in my
        PCmag post I linked to earlier in the thread.

One downside, which won't affect everybody, is you lose your vibrato. This is a hardtail retrofit. They don't show it in this video, but the routing on the back is minimal - much less than is necessary for a vibrato.

Handset will run between $100 and $200 without a contract

Huawei, most recently in the news because of a group of Senator's opposition to the Chinese telecommunications company's dealings with Sprint, is hoping to garner public support by launching an affordable Android smartphone, dubbed the Ideos. The Ideos was announced yesterday at the IFA conference in Berlin.

Specs include:

    * Android 2.2
    * 2.8-inch capacitive QVGA touchscreen display
    * 320 x 240 resolution
    * 528 MHz processor
    * 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera
    * HSDPA 3G
    * Wi-Fi
    * 3G hotspot capabilities for up to eight devices
    * micro-SD card slot

The Ideos was developed with plenty of input from Google itself, Nexus One style, which should be a good sign.

Trade groups: policing our digital copyrights is just too hard

I mostly just listed what they could do and would rather tackle than messing with copyrights. I completely agree they'll let the Clinton tax hike take effect again (that's the more accurate way to word it ;-) ), just because they can do that by doing nothing. They'll attempt to make a bill that limits some of the Clinton tax hike from returning but put something completely unpalatable like cap and tax or card check in there so the Republicans will vote against it. Then the Democrats will whine about how the Republicans raised your taxes by not being "bipartisan." You can guarantee that will happen.

As for the other stuff, it depends. Besides trying to tack one of those things on to the tax hike abatement bill, they may try to jam through or sneak one other of their pet pieces of legislation through before they're kicked out in January. There isn't enough time to do all of them, but it will be a while before the Democrats see this kind of supermajority again and they WILL want to try to take one last bit of advantage from it. The thing is that once some of the bills pass, they're much more difficult to repeal and the Democrats know this, which is why they tried so hard to pass the ones they already have.

These lawsuits seem to occur so frequently I'm becoming apathetic to them.

It's the same song every time. Wait until X, Y and Z companies are making tons of money for being innovative then a sleazy, good-for-nothing company jumps out of the swamp and sues everyone. Generic patent No. 111201.01 covers assembling electronic components and using ones and zeros to control them. Everyone and their mom has to spend millions trying to get out of it or spend millions to get out of it, fail, and still have to pay these barnacles.

On my end the result is the same. I feel a little bad for companies X, Y and Z. I continue to support those I like, ignore the rest and curse the leeches. The USPTO continues to walk around with their collective heads up their asses and do nothing.

I'm tired of the whole thing! Someone wake me when there's some change afoot.

By Matthew Lasar | Last updated 7 days ago

"I believe that net neutrality is the First Amendment issue of our time," declared Democratic Senator Al Franken at Thursday's public hearing on the Internet, held in his home state of Minnesota.

"Unless it's freedom of religion," he added, "which, until last week, I thought we had kind of worked out."

The audience at Minneapolis' South High School cracked up over Franken's reference to the Ground Zero Mosque slugfest. But this was a warm-up rally for their own causegetting the Federal Communications Commission to pass rules that would partially reclassify ISPs as common carriers and apply various neutrality provision to their activities. Two Democratic members of the FCC also attended the event: Michael Copps and Mignon Clyburn.
